The First West Chester Fire Company is a 100 % Volunteer organization and is always looking for people who are willing to lend a hand. Much of the community is under the impression that we only fight fires when in fact we participate in and host many events with members of various levels.
There are various levels of membership within our organization:
-
Active: Active members take a proactive role in the day to day operations of the Company. This can include fighting fires or taking a role in the administration end of the company such as grounds maintenance. Active members are 18 years or older and have the power to vote on Company matters.
-
Apprentice: Apprentice members are members 14-17 years of age who take a proactive role in the day to day operations of the Company. This can include fighting fires or taking care of the firehouse grounds. Apprentice members are limited to their activities and hours of service in accordance with Pennsylvania Child Labor Laws. Apprentice members cannot hold office.
-
Social: Social members may still help with the day to day administration end of the Company, but cannot hold office or vote on Company matters.
-
Honorary: Honorary members are active members of the company with over 35 years of service.
