This holiday weekend kept the West Chester Fire Department volunteers busy with multiple working fires.
First Crews were alerted around midnight Friday for a reported fire alarm in the 100 block of West Market Street in West Chester Borough. The caller reported hearing a smoke detector going off in the apartment above the second floor. Crews arrived, forced entry into the apartment and located a fire in one of the apartment bedrooms.
Later that day crews were alerted to the 900 block of Chrislena Lane in West Goshen Township for a reported house fire. Callers were reporting smoke coming from the second floor of an unoccupied home. Engine 51-1 arrived and located a working kitchen fire in the residence. The fire was extinguished and one dog was removed safely from the home.
Sunday evening Stations 52 & 53 were alerted to the area of the 500 block of Fox Meadow Lane in Thornbury Township for an "unknown" type fire. Callers were reporting seeing a large fire in the area and not sure what was burning. Crews arrived to find a vehicle fire that had extended into a house in the 1300 block of South Concord Road. Crews were able to extinguish the fire while overcoming water supply issues with a lack of fire hydrants in this area. |
